Božena Němcová Theatre in Františkovy Lázně

The theatre named in honour of famous Czech writer Božena Němcová built in 1928 replaced the original theatre building that had been no longer able to satisfy contemporary needs. The requirements on the new stately thespian tabernacle were best satisfied by the design of Prof. Artur Payer, according to which the construction of the theatre was ultimately executed. The new theatre was built in Neoclassical style and its interiors were adorned with decorative elements in the fashion of Art Deco.

The theatre boasted an abundant and variegated repertoire featuring operas, operettas, plays, as well as almost all other genres performed by both its in-house ensemble and visiting theatre companies.

The theatre has been fulfilling the function of a major cultural centre to this day. While visiting Františkovy Lázně, you may thus enjoy a marvellous cultural experience.

Box office: Open Monday to Friday from 01:00 pm to 03:00 pm – on the ground floor at the rear theatre entrance.
