Porcelain Road
Category: Nature Trails
The more than 500-kilometre long Porcelain Road connects major Czech and German towns and cities, in which significant porcelain factories were or are in operation. In the district of Františkovy Lázně, the Porcelain Road passes through the nearby German town of Selb and then continues to the Bohemia via Mostov Chateau, and the towns of Sokolov, Horní Slavkov, Loket, and Karlovy Vary... In each of these town, you may find museums or expositions mapping the 220 year old tradition of porcelain making. Perhaps the largest is the Porzellanikon in Selb, which actually consists of three museums. On the total exhibition area of 9,000 m2 , you may learn about the history of porcelain production from its beginnings to the present, marvel at the exposition dedicated to high-tech ceramics and explore the production processes of one the best known porcelain factories, i.e. the Rosenthal brand.
