Parks were being founded in Františkovy Lázně soon after the foundation of the spa town in the late 18th century. The original swamps and low moors were converted into well-maintained parks, which currently cover an area of more than 250 hectares. Criss-crossed by dozens of kilometres of paths ideal for walks, the parks in Františkovy Lázně have literally become a phenomenon that is comparable only to ostentatious chateau parks and gardens. Unlike them, however, they are accessible free of any charge and whenever you wish.

The vast parks practically embrace the entire spa centre from all sides. You may find Městské sady (Municipal Park) in the north, Sady Bedřicha Smetany (Bedřich Smetana Park) in the south. South of the town centre in the direction of the Natalie Spring Colonnade lies Jižní park (South Park) and another park spreads west of the spa zone all the way to the system of ponds of the Amerika Nature Reserve.

The best way to truly enjoy the beauty of the local parks is to take a walk along their neatly maintained paths. The destination of your walk may be one of the many the spa structures, lookout or observation towers, or spring seeps. Due to their low difficulty, the routes are suitable for people of a all ages and physical condition. They also serve medical purposes. The seep of František Spring is the starting point of the Heart Routes that are an integral part of the spa cure.
