Bismarck's Tower on Zelená Mountain
Category: Lookout & Observation Towers region: 11-20 km from Františkovy Lázně | Město: Cheb
The stone structure known as Bismarck's Tower stands on Zelená hora (Green Mountain) at an elevation of 637 metres above sea level approximately 15 kilometres from Františkovy Lázně. It was built on the site of a former wooden structure in 1909. In the years following World War II, entry to the tower was prohibited due to its location in the border zone. Although the tower was re-opened to the public in 1989, its reconstruction was carried out only in 2005. Since then it has been offering visitors a marvellous view of the surrounding countryside of the district of Cheb, the Ore Mountains, Slavkov Forest, as well as of a part of the Šumava Mountains
